I recently returned to Madeira for the first time since 1995 and found that it has lost none of its charm and beauty...even though the lido and Quinta magnolia were closed due to the recent floods i had the great pleasure of spending many days on the promenade. It truly is lovely but i recommend flip flops for the pebbled beach and just be careful as the sea is quite difficult to get back out of once you are in.... but i had a wonderful holiday and will definitely return there in 2012....;)
