Southeast Madeira Beaches

	Prainha is a beautiful sandy beach located in Caniçal near Ponta de São Lourenço belonging to the district of Machico. This natural dark sandy beach has now easy access for handicap persons; it offers great facilities, excellent water quality, lifeguard surveillance, a bar and restaurant.
	Quinta do Lorde is a charming and modern resort located south east of Madeira in Caniçal, part of the natural reserve of Ponta de São Lourenço. This private complex consists of a hotel with indoor and outdoor pool, a yacht club and Marina, bars and restaurants and a small pebble beach. This incredible place has good water quality and plenty to explore.
	Piscinas do Caniçal is a pool complex located on the east end of Funchal in the fishing village of Caniçal, which was once a whaling industry until 1981. This great pool complex offers great facilities with direct sea access, two saltwater pools for Adults and Children, lifeguard surveillance and a snack bar.
	Praia da Ribeira de Natal is a free public beach located along the river Natal in Machico, close to Caniçal. A somewhat secluded beach unknown by many locals. This attractive pebble beach with good water quality offers great facilities, plenty of sunbathing space, lifeguard surveillance during the bathing season and a long Promenade connected to Caniçal.
	Praia de Machico - NEW - Golden sand! This wonderful beach stretching all around the picturesque bay of Machico has recently been enhanced with a section of soft golden sand. The beach offers plenty of room to sunbathe, good water quality, a diving centre, great facilities, sport activities, lifeguard surveillance during the summer and a promenade with bars and restaurants.
	Praia das Palmeiras is located in the centre of Santa Cruz, a charming town near the airport. This beach is divided into two areas; a pebble beach and a pool complex, which consists of an Adult pool and children’s pool both comprised of seawater with sea access. This complex also has excellent water quality, great facilities, sports activities and lifeguard surveillance during the bathing season.
	Praia de sao Fernando is located in the center of Santa Cruz. A free public pebble beach with showers and lifeguard surveillance during the summer, near children’s play area, cafés and WC.
	Aquaparque is one of Madeira’s big attractions and the only water park in the Island. This amusement park is located at Ribeira Boaventura Santa Cruz. It offers excellent facilities, plenty of room to sunbathe, a variety of water slides such as rapid slides, Rapid River, Black hole, lazy river and 5 waterslides, an Adult pool and a children’s pool with slides. 	Praia da Boaventura is another beach in the village of Santa Cruz, Ribeira da Boaventura. An attractive beach complex with sea access, two seawater pools for adults and children with lots of sunbathing space, lifeguard surveillance and great facilities.
	Praia dos Reis Magos is a very popular pebble beach located near the village of Caniço, the second most important tourist area; a quiet place where you can enjoy a relaxing day on the beach. This pebble beach offers clean and crystal clear waters, good facilities, lifeguard surveillance, plenty of room to sunbathe and is close to restaurants.
	Galomar beach complex is a private beach located on the beautiful rocky coast of Caniço. Accessible by a panoramic elevator, which has saltwater swimming pools for both adult and children, direct sea access, a diving school, first aid and lifeguard surveillance. There is also an excellent seafood restaurant and a café where you can watch the sunset.
	Praia da Cana-vieira is a secluded free public beach located in Caniço. A perfect place for peace and quiet. Take heed, this beach has no surveillance and offers no facilities. The access is poor through stairs with no support structures, but the beach is known for its quietude and water quality.
	Praia do Garajau is situated in Caniço, down a cliff from the statue of Cristo Rei. A beautiful location with fantastic views over the district coast of Funchal. This extraordinary pebble beach offers good quality and crystal clear waters. It is located in a very quiet area and near the underwater natural reserve. This place has great conditions for diving and is very well known. Recently upgraded with good facilities, a restaurant and is accessible by Cable car or by walking/drop off.
