Palheiro Golf Madeira Island

Palheiro Golf Club is located a little to the north-east of Funchal with beautiful panoramic views of Funchal’s bay and mountains. The 200 year old Estate was created in 1801 by João Esmeraldo who used it as a summer getaway. He was known to have planted exotic flowers and trees from all around the world. Today part of this land is included in Golf Course.

Opened in 1993 and designed by Cabell Robinson, this is a remarkable 6,015 metre 18-hole par72 course including a driving-range and putting green. The course is ideal for all handicap levels and is surrounded by pine trees and fantastic views.

The Palheiro estate is high in the hills and as with any other mountainous location temperatures are consistently lower than those at sea level so appropriate clothing should be taken.
